Hexham – Tyne Green Country Park

Birdwatching Sites Hexham – Tyne Green Country Park

In one of Northumberland’s most attractive towns; Hexham, visitors can enjoy relaxing walks or leisurely picnics in Tyne Green Country Park. This beautiful riverside habitat is home to a good variety of woodland and riverside species.

Grey Herons can be found fishing close to the river’s edge, and in the autumn/winter months, the site remains a favourite for Goosander and Goldeneye.

The adjacent Golf Course is popular with Thrushes, whilst the woodland attracts a good selection of warblers in the spring/summer months. Recent visitors have included a male Mandarin in 2016-18 and small flocks of Brambling in 2014-17.

Visitors are recommended to wear suitable footwear, as the surrounding paths can be muddy at times. The site suffered extensive flooding in 2015 and during tidal changes, the river can be fast flowing. The Country Park is popular with the public and is frequently used by a nearby boating club.  This is a great riverside habitat to take the family with good facilities nearby.
